I've had good luck with Mother's mag wheel polish. That will clean up some
of the stains in the little pits. You could finish up with some Simachrome
(sp?) polish after that. Mother's is a little towards the coarse end of the
scale, and Simachrome is more fine.

Let's pretend I have a '62 Crown with surface rust on the chrome of the
windshield surround. It polishes up nicely with that blue, ammonia-laden
stuff, but there's still some rust left... What do you guys recommend,
extremely fine steel wool?
