Re: IML: '65 passenger mirror and AM/FM

I haven't ever seen a factory installed remote control right side (passenger's) mirror on a '65 Imperial. As far as I know that was an "add-on" and is always adjusted by hand.

Don't know about the radio. Mine is AM only, but there is a switch that you would use to go from one to the other. Maybe the switch is bad. Usually if the antenna is going bad (and is in the up position), you'll get FM until the cows come home and no AM, but you stated the reverse so I don't think that is the trouble.

I am having a factory AM/FM radio rebuilt for my car, but on the fence about installing it. It doesn't have the search tune. I guess they did in '66, but my car is a '65 and so is the radio I found.

Glad you had a good trip and good luck on your issues.

Subject: IML: '65 passenger mirror and AM/FM

After a 2100 mile journey, (I got lost) I have my 1965 "arrive and drive" home tonight resting in the garage. I've been driving this car since about 5:00 or 6:00 yesterday afternoon and it's 11:16 p.m. tonight. I was beginning to think we were glued together, but it was fun. Believe it or not, the brochures and the road test magazines were right. I only feel tired from lack of sleep, not from the driving. It would be a great cross-country car, and since I drove through 7 states non-stop ((New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee (that's when I knew something was wrong), back to Arkansas, Missouri, and finally Illinois)), I wouldn't hesitate to drive it any distance. The only costs were, 1) new tires that I bought from the get-go and 2) new belts I had to have put on in West Memphis, Arkansas. I really only had to have one of the alternator belts, but just had them replace them all because they were aging. PLUS, it averaged 16.67 MPG on the highway. I always thought it was my dream car, but, after this experience, it IS my dream car.

Anyway, two questions. The brochure says that the passenger side outside mirror is remote controlled. Where's the control? I looked and couldn't find it, so did it trial and error by hand.

Second. My car has AM/FM. I can get AM stations till the cows come home, but can't get any FM. Any suggestions?
