Its probably a casting number, not a part number. The part number would
be on a tag attached to the part. By this time in auto manufacturing,
casting numbers and parts numbers had no correlation to each other
whatsoever.

I think that that part number would be in a 1957-58 interior trim parts
book. It is probably an interior trim piece for those years up to
1958. By 1959 the numbers are all higher except for a "coat hanger
hook part# 1685942". I imagine these hooks worked on all 57-59's. But
that hook number was the lowest in my Group 23 1959 Interior parts book.
