I should also have the parts if you need another source.

Phil,

Thanks very much for the offer to get the photos.  Actually, Frank (in New Zealand) sent me some excellent photos of his ?72 already, so I?m in good shape now to understand exactly what is missing and what I need to get.  I am also waiting to hear from another list member as to whether they can supply the needed parts, so we?ll see what happens in that regard as well.  Who knows? - there may be other ?73 ATCII owners beside myself and Tim who are missing parts as well!

Thanks again for your interest and offer to help.

I should be able to get and share photos, because my units are out of the cars........I would just need a FSM photo to ID it in order to photo the correct areas.

List,

You may recall that in an earlier email late last month I explained how I had found parts for the Auto Temp II system missing form my ?73 and suggested that it may have been because the car was built on a Monday.   The missing part was the vacuum transfer switch mounted on the outside/recirculating air door assembly in the cowl just in front of the glove box and just behind the heater/AC blower.  Fellow List member Tim Durrer contacted me, and since his glove box was already removed from his car for other reasons, offered to take photos of the proper configuration.

Well, it turned out that Tim?s car was also missing the switch!  The photos he sent me show that he has exactly the same deficiencies as my vehicle.

Now both Tim and I are wondering what the heck is going on.

A couple of List members replied to say they have parts cars to supply the missing parts (assuming that they would be there), but now I am beginning to wonder if any ?73 cars actually have what the parts book, MTSC booklet and the Auto Temp II Service Manual say they should have!!!!

If there is anyone out there with a 71, 72 or 73 with Auto Temp II who could get a photo of the air door and actuator set up showing the vacuum transfer switch - both Tim & I would be very grateful.  I know it?s a lot to ask ? remove the glove box just to get a photo, so we will understand perfectly if there are no takers!!!

Photos aside, maybe there are some Auto Temp II ?experts? out there that can just confirm that they have seen vehicles that have the vacuum transfer switch and the cam that operates it on a car with Auto Temp II (?73 in particular).

Thanks,

Jim Stacey
