I'm more familiar with the mid-60's A-bodies, but on several I've tested,
the readings are similar.  Use an ohmmeter to test resistance between the
connection on the outside of the unit, and ground.  If it's like the
A=bodies, you should see between seven and 70 ohms resistance.  At the
lowest point, as with the tank nearly empty, resistance should be highest,
around 70 ohms.  If you raise the float to mimic a full tank, resistance
should drop to around seven ohms.
