I bought new linings from Kanter inNew Jersey and they arrived and looked fine, just like my 63 Convertibles in fact identical .I thought at first the elongated holes had some how worn that way although I had never seen itbefore so preceeded to fit the new linings after fighting with that little spring and washer thing thatalways flies off into the unknown ! even with the right tool I found that whatever I did the drumwould not go back on !!!!!!!! The elongated holes where NOT WORN but needed . I contactedKanters and they said yes that they did indeed have those sort of linings but they had sent the right ones for my car and that it must have had an axle change ! now my car is a low mileage unrestored vehicle and shows NO sign of that sort of damage or work . Kanters also could or would not tell me what the elongated hole linings were actually for !!!!!! very strange but as I am in England UK sending back stuff is not cost effective at all . Before and after this Kanters has always been fine for me . Am I alone in this elongated hole thing ???????????????.David Munson 55 63 and 66 ImperialsFrom: randalpark@xxxxxxx Reply-To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: IML: 1966 Brake Drum Style Date: Fri, 12 Jan 2007 10:37:34 -0500I don't have a '66, but I do have a '65 and many others. None of them have flared brake drums w/cooling fins on them. I believe that the brakes on 1965 and 1966 are identical. There may be a '66 shop manual on the OIC Web site.Paul W. -----Original Message----- From: a292@xxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thu, 11 Jan 2007 2:23 PM Subject: IML: 1966 Brake Drum StyleI may be mistaken about the '66 Crown having flared brake drums. I was under the impression that they were the style that flared out, overlapping the backing plate with what looks like cooling fins on the flared portion like they were on the back of my '67 Dodge Monaco 500. However someone emailed me saying that the drums on the Crown are not flared but just have a small ridge around the inside circumference. If that's the case my car may have the original style drums on it. Can anyone verify this or better yet have a picture of what the stock drums look like? Thanks Brad   ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com -----------------ÂThis message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
