Continuing with the 'block-off-the-carb' theory, if I remmber right, my Dad used to tell (and show) me that using something to block the carb throat (also keeping your face away from it!) you should be able to cause the engine to stop from lack of ari....UNLESS you have a vacuum leak someplace that the carb can draw air thru. One of the IML guru's would be better to say if this can be done or not....just something I (sort of) remember from loooooooong ago!
