I?ve always done my brake work by the axle. Meaning if I do one rear brake, I do both rear brakes. If I do one front brake, I do both front brakes. And for the very reason you mentioned, to keep it from pulling in one direction or the other. One can pretty much assume that the hydraulic pressure will be the same at both front wheels when the brakes are applied. If one side is mechanically different in any way (new pads, turned rotor, new caliper) then it will behave differently than the wheel with older parts.
