RE: IML: transmission whine

Hmm, I’ve never heard a whine from any of my 727’s.  It must be at the same pitch as my wife’s voice, because she claims I can’t hear her either.

GM Turbo 400s make the same sound especially in first.  Every 727 I ever heard does it in first gear.

This is a very subjective topic, since without a wav file to hear the sound,
or a really good microphone with a long enough cable and a laptop with
wireless, its kinda hard to hear the sound and the conditions when its
heard. In all seriousness though, there is a certain tone that is very
consistent with a torqueflite - especially with a well muffled car like an
Imperial - that is almost always heard as a sort of whine, especially when
first taking off. It always reminds me of the Enterprise in the original
Star Trek series when they would accelerate. I wish I could describe it
more accurately, if this is the tone youre hearing its the one that
accompanies every torqueflite in every Chrysler product Ive ever owned and
its a good thing.
