Hi all- I am currently in negotiations regarding the purchase of a 1990 Imperial with 55k miles. The car is in very good condition but it has, according to the current owner, had a series of problems with the ABS brake system. The current owner has spent $1,200 on the brake system over the last 12 months and vowed not to spend a penny more. Occasionally when applied the pedal suddenly drops to the floor. The owner has been told by his mechanic that repair/rebuild parts are not available for this car. My question to you 90-93 Imperial owners is- can the ABS booster and master cylinder be rebuilt for a resonable price? And if so, who does this work? Your quick response(s) would be greatly appreciated as the '90 owner is shopping for a new Chevy Aveo TODAY (Friday, 11/24) and is seriosuly considering trading the Imperial in. If the repair of this brake system is going to cost me an arm and a leg I will pass on the Imperial, but if I can repair it for a reasonable price (200-400) I will buy the car.
