Interestingly, so far, I haven't run across any Imperial that was worth faking a body tag for, but I guess anything is possible. Now in the muscle car game, I think that might be a different story. A faked '67 Belvedere two door club sedan with a 426 Hemi would have a much different value than the same car if it came that way from the factory, like maybe $100,000 difference. For that kind of money, someone might fake a body tag. On a $12,000 Imperial four door, I'm not so sure. For the record, the vin plate and the body tag on this Imperial are fastened the same way on this car as they are on mine. Otherwise, I can't say much about this vehicle. I will be in Arizona next week, so if I run across it, I will report back on what I find. I am staying in Glendale, and I think I know where it is.
I am a muscle car guy. My interest is primarily early 70's. That vin tag did not look right. I defer to the experts on this list about how correct the shiny vin with no rivets (70s are riveted) and the questionable, to me, body tag. Before I spend $12K on a car I would check all that out thoroughly, but it does seem to be a nice car.
