Re: IML: Early 50's Power Brakes

joe, i had a booster rebuilt about 2 years ago for a 53 imperial., about $250 plus shipping. they did a great job. i can get you the name of the company if you email me at captden29@xxxxxxxxxxxxx i have it at home. the 54 windsor i have now has the booster bypassed but i do plan on hooking it back up. i will send it out to the same company again. i think this time i will remove the front seat as it has got to make the job easier.  dennis

Today's post on the 53 and 51 power brakes piqued my interest.
I have a 54 that I am getting back on the road after more than a
decade's slumber. I have a question for Mr. Gustafson, or anyone else
that can help: What source did you have for rebuilding, or getting
parts to rebuild the booster. My car is like yours, and is the last
year for the under floor units that are separate. I have not found a
source for these boosters. I have removed both MC and the booster and
am planning on using the system sans assist. I do have the 54 FSM, and
would take a stab at going over the booster myself. Also does anyone
know where the brake distribution block for these cars can be obtained.
This one looks like it has been soldered or JB Welded long ago. I would
not want to depend on it, so I would like to get a replacement..

Thanks to all folks who make this such an interesting list.
