I could be wrong, but I believe that this change took place with the introduction of the 440 in 1966. Over the years, I have heard of many 440s loosing gear teeth and skipping time. On 413s I have only heard about stretched timing chains, but never a broken tooth.
Two years ago, my mechanic removed the timing chain cover on my '63 to be certain that everything was okay. The vibration damper was being replaced, and he was that close. He told me that the car had metal timing gears, without plastic coated teeth. I believe that the timing gears on that car are original.

I have a FSM from 1965. I have studied the engine spec and such and have not found the detailed information on whether the camshaft sprocket has nylon teeth, or not. I do remember discussion of this in earlier threads. I'm just not sure I remember if anyone knew when this change occurred. Knowing the extent of expertise here, I'd wager we can get an accurate answer.
