There is a threaded plug that is set into the block. Removing the plug would allow a loose rod to drop down and out into your hand or onto the ground. I removed this plug when the pump was off and used a screwdriver to push the rod back up so that it was contacting the cam and out of the way of the fuel pump actuating arm. I can't recall, but I think I smeared sticky grease or something to hold it up in there while inserting the pump, or used the screwdriver to hold it up while I inserted the pump with its arm. -Kenyon > ----- Original Message ----- > From: jhplc@xxxxxxxxxxx > To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Monday, October 09, 2006 6:53 PM > Subject: IML: 73 Fuel Pump replacement > > > Hi List, > > After reading all the fuel pump replacing info in > the repair section....I am in the process of > replacing it today...After removing the old > pump..(and the Alternator)..I began looking for the > infamous pushrod...and I don't think it is in > there...do those things fall out, or is it retracted > all the way close to the cam? > > Jerry > 73 ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com ----------------- This message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
