We talk about how much electronics there are in modern cars. Well I just spent a solid day installing part of a wiring harness in my '60 and it is not a task for the faint of heart! These older cars are more complicated electrically than you think. You just don't realize it until you start stripping out "miles" of wiring and connectors. Even now I'm still not done although I'm about 80% there. These things were certainly never intended to be redone in this fashion.....whew! I made a critical decision during all this, I removed the after market air conditioning. I'd been debating about it as the unit under the dash had a retro look to it and I thought it would be nice at times to have it available if I could get it working - even in Alaska (hey, it gets to 80 degrees here on occasion....for a week). But the unit was getting in the way so I started cutting hoses (it was discharged completely) and ripped it out. I have to say the car looks better now without it - more roomy. And all the extra hoses under the hood are no longer getting in the way of other things. At least with the under dash fan/cooler out I finally found the fuse block. Now if I can only remember the color sequence for how it's wired up......
