If the system is loosing fluid and you don't see it, the leak is probably at one of the wheel cylinders. If you have a dual res. m/c, you could determine if the leak is front of rear. Most of the time, the reason your don't see it is because it is a very slow leake, and dirt on the backing plates absorbs the fluid before it hits the floor.
Pumping the pedal is a good idea on an older car to help limit overheating and brake fade. The requirement to pump the brake pedal to get pressure can be caused by other things as well, such as incorrect adjustment, low fluid level, and air in the lines. A leaky master cylinder, or any other (at least) moderate system leak can be felt by the pedal gradually going to the floor upon reaching its normal limit of travel. A seeping wheel cylinder or line connection won't generally create this situation, but would require topping off the system regularly without apparent evidence of a leak.
Based on what has been posted here so far, this car should have a complete brake job including the master cylinder.
Not a matter of feeling lucky. The car in question barely leaves the garage and won't for another 4-5 years. It has on occasion exhibited a pedal that needs to be pumped up to get pressure when first started and seems to lose fluid over the winter without showing any leakage. Upon driving it around the brakes have been fine and get better with use, but I was just wondering what it would be if the master went bad.
