Hate to be picky but no they are not. A British (Imperial) gallon is 4.73176 litres, A US gallon is 3.78541 litres. If you are only dealing with one gallon, it doesn't make much difference, but when you're dealing with a tank full of gas, there is a significant difference. Ask anyone who was in school when Canada converted from the Imperial measure to the metric system... We had to know and understand all three systems. Boy, does that date me, and gas used to cost 32 cents Canadian for an Imperial gallon. I do have a conversion chart that was produced here by the Canadian Government and is very easy to use. If someone would like a copy of this I can scan it in and send to the club. Also remember that it is hard to get the proper size tires which were larger so I thin the odometer reading may be off.
