> So Alan, since your so proficient in dealing with this problem- when >will you'll be fixing it for me?? Ha! HA! -Thanks for the info.. I think >I'll be getting to it real soon. How much does the Mode door cost? >-Anthony > Anthony, Before you go out and buy a new Mode Door I would verify it is in fact the door itself that is "binding" for one reason or another. I have a 1987 New Yorker which has a similar system. I am not sure, but it may in fact be identical to the 90-93 Imperials. Even if it isn't, it's the same theoretical design. Electronically controlled temp and mode doors driven by actuator motors prompted by the digital in-dash "head" unit. In my case, the problem turned out to be the actuator motor and not the door. In the New Yorker at least, the motor itself is far easier to replace than the door itself. YMMV with the Imperial. However, even getting to the motor itself is a whole LOT of NO FUN. I can't imagine had I needed to replace the door itself. Alan is making no exaggerations here. Your first step should be to run the self-test Alan referred to. Post back if you get any error codes. I can decipher most of the error codes for you.
