Just so you know the Oxygen Sensor does not effect the way the car runs until it warms up and goes into closed loop.  As always start with the easiest and the obvious.  If you have an exhaust leak it could be effecting the way the motor runs.  Start there.  It is also possible that the bad oxygen sensor was covering up other problems.  It is not uncommon with those older systems to have multiple problems.  Good luck.
