Re: IML: '75 Imperial and '76 New Yorker Brougham

The Crown Coupe was what became the St Regis option on the NYBs. It was
introduced in late 1974 and continued for 1975, but not all '74-75 Imperial
2-doors were Crown Coupes (most were true hardtops with four retractable
side windows), and none was badged Crown, even with the roof option (just
like there are no St Regis badges on a New Yorker so equipped).

All '74-75 Imperials were LeBarons. The Crown Coupe was officially the
"Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupe Anniversary Edition" in commemoration of
Chrysler's 50th anniversary. Essentially it was an option package, while up
until 1970 it had been a model offering.

As for the price/content changes between the '75 Imperial and '76 NYB, I'll
repost a summary I posted here in January...

> 1. Rear fenders changed to standard side markers (Imperial used shield design)
> 2. Badges (of course)
> 3. Dash pad (Imperial is more squared-off and has woodgrain trim around
> instrument panel)
> 4. Rear brakes (Imperial used discs, NYB has drums)
> 5. Numerous standard features become optional (e.g., cornering lamps, height
> control)
> 6. Numerous optional features (e.g., light-sensing headlamps) become not
> available (though I know of a '76 NYB with that feature)
> 7. Wheel cover options (Imperial offered none, NYB offered three treatments)
> 8. Rear window treatment (formal backlight on Imperial, NYBs get fullsize rear
> window)
> 9. Choice of engines (Imperials were all 440s, NYBs offered 400 and later 360
> as well)

Hope this clears things up!
