    I think it's time for me to sound off on why owners of these rare cars sell them off for parts. First off these sellers dont quite fully understand the rarity of the car they own or if they do they simply believe that they can make more money selling off parts one at a time. I've been watching alot of the 1960 Imperials that have been selling on ebay recently and to be quite honest several of these cars seem to be stalling out in bidding at around the $1500 to $3000 range sometimes less for $1000 for the ones that have been seriously neglected or stripped of most parts already. It all comes down to what the seller thinks he can make more doing selling parts or the entire car. Perhaps hundreds if not thousands of these Imperials are either being stripped down to the frame and sold off for parts or end up at the scrap yard. 10-15 years from now we will probably only see a handful of these classic cars restored to showroom new. I would hope by then collectors will come out and fully appreciate not only the rarity of the car but also it's real value. I can assure everyone on this mailing list that these cars will continue to appreciate in value. So good luck to everyone out there who takes the time and money to return these cars to what they once were.

I would bet that of all of these engines pulled for a hypothetical project 95% are sitting up on end in a garage or shed slowly rusting themselves solid. All told he had about $10,000 in parts and machining, never mind mechanic's labour, for a little more then half that much you could build up a 440 or a 400 that would run circles around it. You could rebuild either motor for less but the bang for the buck is definitely with the big blocks even as stock and the Hemi tricked out.

I spoke with the seller when he first listed the car.  He said he would entertain offers for the entire package provided the deal includes a similar motor, which he wants to keep for another project.
