Re: IML: imperial models

Oh that's an excellent idea. Now you're giving me a lot of food for thought on doing something unusual with my Green Hornet kit.
A turbine powered Black Beauty would be a neat concept.
That Revell kit of the coupe is pretty rare. Thanks to Kenyon, we have some pictures of it on the models page.
Now that John Corey's 61 convertible will be available, I am thinking about buying one to try my hand at converting it into a 63 Ghia limousine.
That will take a lot of cutting and molding with resin, but just think of the wow factor.

There was a kit I missed a bid on last fall. It was an AMT 65 Imperial convertible kit for a one season sitcom from the 60's about a sheriff. The car had all kinds of wstern gizoms on it like the pre-requisite longhorns on the hood, and the six shooter door handles. I was going to build it as a standard Crown convertible, but it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks for the insight on the kit Chris, I suspected as much. I searched
for some time to find a kit to build to match my 62, and eventually used a
4 door kit and filled the mold lines for the rear doors with super glue gel,
sanded off the rear handles and scribed a line for the correct position of
the rear of the door. It was probably more than I needed to do but I wanted
to be as close as I could get, and probably closer than anyone would notice
in 1/25 scale. I used the Revell kit, but the engine detail left a lot to
be desired, so I found a Monogram kit of a Challenger with a very detailed
440 with A/C and used that, for once a muscle car gave its life for an
Imperial!

Perhaps the next " What If..." category, Ill get an Imperial vert and see if
the turbine engine from my unfinished Jo-Han turbine car will nest inbetween
those fenders.
