The increase in the number of items found is because Ebay started showing 
hits from Ebay stores as well as the auctions.  The first few hundred items 
will be the auction items, then there will be a division and it will show 
the hits from the ebay stores.  This can be kind of useful, but you have to 
be more specific in your search terms, or have a lot of time to look 
through the 100s of additional items.
