The 9 1/4 inch rear axle assembly that was used in Grand Fury's, Dodge
Magnum's or whatever car of that same era can be spotted by counting twelve bolts on
the rear cover. This rear axle can be a bolt in item if found on the correct
car. At the pick and pull here in Colo Spgs I picked up one from a Dodge
Diplomat Wagon that had this package for $70 bucks.
I am with you guys on not using the Imperial's 9 nuthin transmission that is
used behind the 318's. MoPar used the 727's on all 360's for a reason.
I believe this much horse power in ths car is an over kill. To me the E58
360 Coded motor would be great for this Imperial. Instead of using the block
hugger after-market manifolds 'cause they are thought of being the only choice,
I would look at the '92 and newer OEM Magnum cast irion manifolds from MoPar.
I just got a set from the local P&P for eight bucks.
Since the gas tank on your Imperial is not Sq for the car I would look at the
dual exh set up that had twin pipes and mufflers all the way back to the dual
OEM mufflers. After the mufflers they had a "Y" pipe that went over the axle
and down the one side of the gas tank. This OEM set up was on E58 Coded
360's and the Cop package of about 1979 to 1984.
