RE: IML: Battery for a '55

A 55 takes a BCA group 2 battery.  These are getting very hard to find – you may have to find an old case and have it modified to hide an Optima battery to get enough oomph for a 55.

A group 1 will work, but it is not really enough for a big car like an Imperial.

You can try at your local golf cart battery supplier, they sometimes have group 2H’s which are a little tall, so be sure to verify that you have the clearance for it.  If you can find a 2L, that will also do the job nicely, but they are also very hard to find these days.  I’d also check with Interstate, they sometimes are pretty good with coming up with suitable substitutes – but 6 volt batteries are not their forte.

What kind of battery goes into a 1955 Imperial sedan? Where do you get the battery?
