i forgive u for your rude and arrogant remark i will just assume you have
turettes. i write things fast i am not an idiot im in class when i do this
so i dont exactly have hours and hours to do this. now u might be right
about the engine im not exactley sure about the exact size and year. and to
everyone who chose to defend me i thank you. i will check my numbers and
correct my errors in the future.

time as a member I can assure you there are many people who are members

I don't think that it's anyone's place to ask anyone else here where they
learned to write, especially considering the high number of foreign folks
that have to put in serious work just to communicate here outside of their
language comfort zone. The message is understandable, and "proper"
sentence structure and spelling aren't a requirement for club membership.
Writing in text-message-ese may also be somewhat generational, as some
people have grown up with electronic communications as a fact of life and
not a development that's happened in the last 5% of one's life
Good manners are a prerequisite to being here, though. Please be nice.
As far as the rest of that goes, I'll tell you that I was just getting into
old cars at 16 and when you've got more time and energy than money, you do
what you have to do to get your car just to work, since a 16 year old's
resources differ greatly from the resources of an older, more established
collector. Jesse's bitten off a serious challenge in his choice and I
think that we should be here to support him. Only Jesse can say for sure
what's right for him and his particular situation. Any stock engine
rebuild or shipping of one could seem to be more expensive than sourcing a
locally available low-cost used engine, and 331's aren't exactly available
all over the place unless/until you know where to look.
Jesse - Hang in there Brother! Whatever you decide to do, this place
should be the place to go for advice about your Impeiral if ever there was
one (up to a point). The group here isn't well set up for advice about
hot-rodding or modifications with non-stock parts, since we're mostly about
restoration and dealing with stock stuff, so just understand that there are
some limits to what the folks here are going to be able to offer in terms
of advice. Most folks here (myself included) will root for you to stay as
close to original for the sake of simplicity - changing things around
without an engineering degree can lead to unintended consequences - beware
on that!
One question: What would you think about maybe going with a stock engine
if the group here were to help you find one on the cheap? It might be more
expensive up front, because it'll cost money to get one, but keeping it "in
the family" of Chrysler products will keep the car more "fixable" (there's
a reference manual for it that way!) and keep us better able to help you,
because we just don't deal with Buick stuff.
Where are you located?
Would you be open to help from other IML members if they were close to you?
There's an IMPERIAL HIGHWAY section on the club website under MAILING LIST
area to help find people that have volunteered to assist other Imperial
owners. Sometimes getting some advice from someone that's already been
there can make a big difference. The list of stupid things that I'll not
repeat is long and vivid to me, and I'd be happy to share it if it were
going to help. I swapped an engine to something else once and it was three
times the work to get right in comparison to yanking and fixing what had
been in there before.

i understand ur argument but im only 16 and dont realy have the money to

same time i would like to minor customize it i dont plan on making it in to
a complet custom but i do want to make a few changes gettimg back to the
engine i was recently given a free running engine and tranny a 1982 buick
350 and then as far as the chrome tim goes im only taking off some of it
because the chrome on the drivers rear door was damaged by the previous
owner he tried to find the chrome for 6 years finally he threw it away and
sold the car.

after the trim and tranny is removed, to denote it as an Imperial anyway.
Some of the trim, such as the stainless on the back fenders, is there to
cover up a seam in the body work. If the car is otherwise complete why
don't you find another engine and fix the car as it is?, 331 hemis are some
of the most common ones out there. These cars are rather rare to begin with
so you don't really need to customise to have it stand out.
