The removal of the shaft is not always as easy as it sounds. I have found that if you pull the knob as far out as it goes, then push the knob as far in as you can (until it feels like it is going to puncture your skin) then give one hard pull, it comes out. You may need to try a couple of times, but it will come out, The trick, too, is to pull the shaft straight out. Once the knob is out you can remove the retainer that holds the switch in place. Thanks for the input, I need more. I am trying to get the switch out of the dash pod that was completely removed from my parts car. 100% access. I had seen the button and pushed it before I wrote thinking, well, that must not be it as the knob did not move. After reading the return emails I pushed the button and PULLED on the knob to absolutely no avail. Already had the dash guage out on the Crown, tried the button on it too, it won't come out either.
