Sounds like a dead short in the light circuit, and it i stripping the 
circuit breaker in the headlamp switch. You can do some quick 
troubleshooting by using just the running lights and see if it still does 
it. If it does, start looking at your running light circuits. These are your 
parking lights, license plate lamp, dash lights, etc. I believe your front 
parking lamps are "out" when the headlamps are "on". I once had a short in 
the wire to the rear license plate lamp. It was mounted on the trunk lid, 
and had chafed through near the hinges.
