Michael,
I think I found the problem to be a combination of loose/dirty connections
at the bulkhead connectors & a bad fusible link. After cleaning &
reconnecting the plugs at the bulkhead, all the accessories worked. However
the car still wouldn't crank when turning the key. I connected a remote
switch at the relay & it started right up. I then noticed when touching the
fusible link wire that I could hear a clicking somewhere in the electrical.
The connection closest to the battery was hanging by a couple of strands &
fell off in hand. I connected a wire from the positive battery terminal to
the starter relay & the car now starts up with the key. I took it for a ride
after finishing this Friday after work. & all seems well.
I ordered a new fusible link, since I probably wouldn't feel too safe
with this bypassed permanently. I had done this on another 69 that I had
around 1973 & never had any problems. However, with the electrical system
being 30 plus years older now, I'd be probably inviting trouble.
I'm thinking the problem surfaced because of the hot weather & the
fact that I put the A/C on. Many that have these cars probably realize that
if you let the car idle in gear with the A/C running & your foot on the
brake that the ammeter will go over to the discharge side. With the link
wire hanging by about 2 strands, that was what it took to kill it.

John,
At last update, you seemed to be close. Is all well, or are you still
finding trouble with the 69?
Don't know if I know much more to suggest, but was hoping your progress
was
good.
