The V indicates that the engine is a 1964 model year part and the 41 is an abbreviation for 413. Sometimes the whole 413 appears but many times it doesn't. The same applies to 38 for 383 and 42 for 426W. The 2 25 indicates that the engine was assembled on February 25 (1964). If a "2" appeared after 2 25 it would mean 2nd shift. For 1965 Chrysler reset the engine ID character and used "A" again. Here's a pic of the 426W in a 65 Dodge Monaco, 8/18 (1964) engine assembly date. http://bos-engel.com/monaco/426_4speed/engstamps_s.jpg Pete in PA From: GeoNort@xxxxxxx Date: Sun, 24 Jul 2005 19:19:07 EDT Subject: IML: 413 Engine Identification Reply-To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -------------------------------1122247147 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <snip> I could read the stamp on the block. It reads: V 41 2 25 I tried to look up that info in my FSM, Chilton books, and of course the IML resources. Well, my eyesight must be getting bad but with age, or to many late hours in the shop. I found no V 41. Does anyone know what that stands for? It seems so far if I order parts for a 1964 413 I get stuff that fits. Any help would be appreciated.
