In my opinion, this is the funniest and most accurate reason yet!

However, I do notice a common thread in many of the responses. Almost everyone who collects old Imperials does so because they feel a stronger identification with their grandparents, or their grandparents' generation, than they do with their peers. I'm not sure why that is but I think it's interesting.
