Ernie:
I am not speaking of a plugged sock -- I am speaking from experience
-- that the sock gets sucked by the fuel pump so strongly that it collapses on
itself and cuts the flow of gasoline. I learned this the hard way as I had
similar problems from December 1965 to September 3rd 1966 when I had trouble
with my 66 Barracuda. After Chrysler spent thousands of dollars trying to find
out my problem, I found it while on my honeymoon in a small Chrysler garage in
Delano, CA. I removed the sock and never had any gas supply problems in more
than 300,000 additional miles.
