Re: IML: A Edelbrock CH4B Intake on a 413 ?

Dave

When you change the intake manifold on your 1962 413 you will find the newer
carbs have a different throw in order to operate. After you read this message
go to the car and while under the hood area move the throttle linkage. The
manner the carb arm is moved at the carb is a complete opposite of the newer
cards. The second thing is the Air Cleaner Housing will not seal to the new
carb since the new carb has a larger neck opening. The last part of this mod is
the newer carbs have a different carb to manifold bolt pattern so you can not
try out the new stuff until you get all the parts. If you fill that you must
change the intake manifold the best for the buck is the cast iron unit
installed on any 68 and newer 440.

At the allpar.com site is a note on how to figure the correct carb for the
rpm's that you will be running at. With a 750 cfm'd carb you will be spending
more than normal time at the gas pumps. And with the 750 cfm'd carb you will
find that due to the weight of your 1962 2 door Custom that you will be
watching license plates 'cause the 413 will be bogging on the low end due to over
carbing.

What kind of a exhaust system do you have ???
