That bumper was massive and beautiful! Was waiting for traffic by a school yard in my 58, heard a dull thud and thought a basketball hit the bumper. Turned out to be a Renault Dauphine with a beautifully indented step in it's bonnet as we pulled it out from under the unscathed bumper.
