The J-heads are essentially the same as the coveted 340 X-heads, but with smaller intake valves ( X=2.02, J=1.88). The J-heads have hardened valve seats.
The early 360 blocks like this one are believed to have more meat in the cylinder walls. These blocks are more desirable for racers. This might effect the value of it some, but not significantly.

Based on the block no. the year is a 1971-1974 360CID. It was the last engine of the LA (lower A) family, meaning it had a lower deck height. It has a 4.00 in bore and a 3.58 in stroke. I don't know what the J stands for on the Heads.
The heads should have a casting no. also.
If the number on the heads is 3418915 the heads could be 1970-1972.
If the number on the heads is 3671587 the heads could be 1973-1974.
This could narrow the year range of the engine down some. Maybe someone else could provide more insight.
