So don't tell CA DMV that you put in a 360!!!!!!! Well, Davis, of course you're right. But you have to say your prayers to the Mopar gods that the smog tech doesn't know s**t from Shinola. That's one of the reasons there is a factory sticker for the carb conversion -- the emissions standards are different for the non-EFI engine. Now, if you tucked a 360 underneath the EFI with stock valve covers you would surely pass the visual inspection. I doubt they will look at block castings or stampings, and they likely couldn't tell one small block Mopar from another by sight. But if their book says "fuel injection" and you don't have it, oh oh... And if you ever get nailed, they'll impound your car and there is no limit (literally!) to the amount of money you can be forced to spend to pass CA smog with that vehicle for the rest of its roadworthy life. Please note all of the above only applies to conventional registration. If you want to go the "historic vehicle" route and adhere to the limitations within reason, that's another option.
