Kenyon,
If your car had an electronic ignition, it likely had
a different ballast resistor and coil. I would make
sure both are correct of a 1960 distributor. If the
wrong ballast resistor has been used with your
point-style distributor, they may be burned.
I had the miss problem you describe, but mostly under
WOT. After exhausting every possibility, I followed a
friend's advice, "Do the easy stuff first." Despite
the fact I had a fairly new set of plug wires on the
car, I nevertheless checked them by starting the car
in a pitch black dark garage with a tarp draped over
me and the hood. Looked like Tokyo by night there was
so much arcing and misfire!! I put on a high quality
set of plug wires and no more trouble since.
Hopefully your problem is something equally as simple.
