I believe you had to "prove" that you obtained your
money in an honest way, the idea being to keep them
out of the hands of prohibition-era gangsters. The
"new" Bugatii may have done something similar to keep
them out of the hands of drug-lord gangsta's.
I've also heard that some of the exotic European makes
from the 20s (like the above, and a few others) tried
to limit their sales to "white-only" in the US.
Not trying to stir the pot, just find it interesting
that companies even bothered with that stuff.
