Most pushrods damage is cause by timing chains problems. I have a '77 Cordoba which had 12 bend push rods, and 5 bend valves all cause by the timing chain which broke. In your case the timing chain might have jump a tooth. Just my two cents. :)

Subject: IML: Bent pushrods
I have a 1963 (413) with some bent pushrods, I think that they have been bent a while and I did not hear any crazy spounds last time it ran (just underpowered). The car has only 40,000 miles on it. How could I check to see if it is a lifter issue or something worse? I replaced the rods but have not tried the car yet.
