IML: Modifications To Imperials

Hello All,
I have been following this thread about modifications and a thought occurred to me. First off, I admit that "traffic" in Billings, Montana is nothing like the TRAFFIC I left in Chicago. That being said, I do not understand why so many people are worried about disc conversions based on traffic. When I drive my 64, I am in cruise mode. If some idiot trying to prove their adulthood drives as if the senior prom was just around the corner, I give them PLENTY of room and go on my merry way. Isn't defensive driving part and parcel of old car ownership?
Secondly, it seems to me that their are some Imperial owners that are trying to upgrade their cars to 2005 standards. In doing so, you actually ruin the "old car" experience. The reason these cars are precious, is THE DIFFERENCE between them and the new computer controlled models.
Please do not take this as an indictment of all modifications to old cars. After all, it is your vehicle. I just wonder if in our rush to modernize, we are not loosing sight of what makes a vintage Imperial special.
