RE: IML: $635 tail lamps. ?wow- Bidder fever.

I know it seems crazy that anyone would want to  drive up the cost of the parts that much. I am restoring a "Non-Imperial" and have been buying lots of things on E-bay. This one guy kept bidding things up that I wanted, so I wondered if he had a car like mine. I checked his history and it turned out he bought NOS parts for ALL cars and paid horrendous prices for all of it. 

I think that some of these folks are in the parts business, have loads of money, and benefit from themselves driving up the cost of the parts.
