Hello all-
Just got a 1959 Imperial Crown and joined the group (thanks for the
welcome
messages!). This car has been sitting for something like 25 years. There
is
oil in the pan (or some black juice) and fluid in the tranny. My friend
suggests I try to start the car, since the chance of catastophic failure
is
low, and the worst that might happen is that a bearing would get ruined
(which I would likely replace on the inevitable rebuild anyway). The
benefit
might be seeing if the block is cracked etc. I can turn the engine by
tugging
on the fan and belts. The engine doesn't look too bad, considering, though
the carb needs to be exercised a little.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks
-Glen
