I was wrong, the Chrysler Airflow at the Henderson, NV (near Las Vegas) car
show was actually a 37. It was stated to be completely original
non-restored which was believable looking at the paint, rubber, etc. It was
a remarkable vehichle and I cannot possibly do it justice. The fender
skirts were on but have a bolt hence are removeable-well I gu3ess that kind
of makes sense (DUH!-flats would require it). The bumpers had a very strong
mouting piece where they attach to the frame and front and back bumpers had
an elipse-like piece of metal behind itthat would probably deflect a lot of
force and perhaps help preserve the rest of the vehichle in low speed hits.
The axle looked to be about 3" thick and the potential travel of the akle
was considerable until it would hit a rubber block like a motor mount. It
had front and rear leaf springs. I saw no oil leak at all and the pan
looked repainted so must have had a gasket replaced. The interior was in
excellent shape. It had left and right glove boxes and the instrument
cluster was very aesthetic. The RPM were measured in hundreds. The front
windws tilted forward with a hinge on the top. Had a straight 8 I believe
that the engine was indeed very original, some superficial rust. It really
was a fabulous car. Did not get to meet the ownersbut if I had I would have
given them a slobbering sob story that I had never driven a 37 Airflow, it
is my life dream and my time here on earth is limited....
