As for what's currently wrong with the Bosch ABS, it's in its typical state -- marginally-to-non-functional, that is.
I last saw the Imperial this afternoon on a flatbed being towed back to a Warren dealership (who shall remain nameless) whom I've just paid a pretty penny for front pads and rotors. Although they "serviced" the calipers ("shtupped" is more like it), apparently they didn't notice during this morning's road test that one of the calipers was frozen. No pull, no apparent drag (no overheating, either), but I smelled resin from the pad immediately and after a couple of miles on I-696 I saw a large cloud of smoke spewing from the wheel well when I pulled into my driveway.
I was looking for a suggestion for a mechanic to work on the system before heading to this particular dealer. Today's idiocy makes four-for-four screw-ups (three dealers and an ex-Chysler mechanic) on repairing the brakes over the last four years.
When I arrive in the underworld I plan to look up the bean-counter who decided to use Bosch instead of Bendix on thirteen hundred or so of the 1990's. (Same for the person who coined "merger of equals.")
Regards to all. Feel free to reply off-list with a mechanic's name. Thanks.
