Missing teeth on the ring gear for an automatic is a pretty big deal. Ring
gear is welded to the torque converter and to replace one needs to pull the
transmission to get the converter out. When going that far, I think I would
replace the converter with a new one rather than replace the ring gear on
the old converter. Just my 2c.
