da NEWS from Portland Oregon...........
Yesterday morning while riding the bus to work, I spotted a pristine example of a '57 Imperial 4 door Sedan filling up at a Gas Station on the corner of SE 92nd and Division Street . This one was minty green and I think it's the same one that was spotted by my wife a couple of months ago on Hawthorne Blvd. She said she couldn't believe how shiney and new it looked..........Is it owned by anyone on the list ???....... Also.......... earlier this year I was in a hurry driving through the Milwaukie/Oak Grove area of Portland and I spotted a dark blue/white top NYB sitting in someones driveway, I wish I would have had a chance to stop to talk to both of these people, but I am usually in a hurry early in the morning or late at night, so it's tough sometimes to catch me....... Whenever I travel I always try to be the "Imperial" ambassador, telling people about the club and talking cars...... just last week I met a neighbor about a mile from me, he has 3 large garages on his 15 acres........ two of the garages are his collection of '30 's to '50's rare metal and fibreglass bodied roadsters, these aren't your typical common cars either, with names like Glasspar, Wildfire, Woodill's, Atlas, BMW's, etc......... we talked and talked about all kinds of cars, but when I told him about my '58 Imperial his eyes lit up and he was all ready to follow me home just to have a look at it. I arranged for him to come over this weekend to take a close look at the Imperial, so I'm looking forward to showing it off. This makes about five "old car" guys that I know within a mile or two of my home. I recently came across a nice gold '75 Lebaron, for a really GOOD price, that was begging for me to buy it......... I told my wife she better smack me upside the head before I have a chance to reach for my wallet........ my driveway is full, my barn/shop is full, and it seems like my wallet is always empty, so another car would be "TOO MANY PROJECTS"...... and I've been down that road before...... in fact my wife, almost talked me into buying a nice little '50's roadster that was for sale for $25000......( 25 thousand !!)....... I finally had to say "honey", I could probably buy "5" NICE Imperials for that money....... and that got her thinking..........then she started talking about looking for a NICE BIGG convertible....... oh man, I'm never gonna finish all these cars..........
oh, and BTW, count me in for that "SAVE THE IMPERIAL" club, I can always restore pot metal or save some parts from the scrapper, or maybe pave some more of my yard ???........ I'm a sucker for this stuff..........
