Well, I finally got the trunk to my '64 Imperial convertible open. In
the the trunk, I was delighted to find that there was no rust (whew!)
two good tonneau pieces (hooray!) and a very large piece of pearlescent
vinyl. This vinyl appears to cover the ENTIRE passenger compartment
from windshield to rear deck, with a zip-out section for the driver. It
appears to fit into the odd grommets that are embedded in the dash and
the sides of the car. I've seen similar covers for MGs and Triumphs,
but NEVER an Imperial. My questions:
1. Seeing this cover and the spotty, faded paint reminds me of a
convertible that I've seen at shows here on the East Coast before. Does
this ring a bell to anybody? Or am I just suffering from deja vu? Has
anyone heard the story of this green over white '64 Imperial? If you

2. The fiberglass pieces are pretty grimy, but they appear to match the
(sun-baked) white interior. Any suggestions for cleaning
products/procedures? Can these fragile pieces be replaced? I seem to
recall that there was somebody re-manufacturing them. How much would a
spare set cost?
3. How do I access the top pump? It appears to be resting behind the
rear seat on the axle. Is this the correct position?
4. I may just disconnect the pistons for now, an put the top down
manually for a while. Will I have trouble reattaching them? They will
probably need to be replaced, given that the pump is probably out of
fluid.
