Ken, I have successfully been using a late model Chrysler electronic ignition module on both a 65 and 66 New Yorker. I plan to perform this addition to my 68 Imperial soon. There are several advantages to using Chryslers electronic Ignition Module. First of all the parts are available nation wide at thousands of auto parts suppliers and even department stores. All mechanics are familiar with the parts unlike a third party aftermarket unit. There are no points to oxidize when sitting for extended periods. No points adjustments or timing adjustments are ever needed again since there is nothing that ever changes over time in the distributor. No points rubbing block wear or lubricant will ever be required again. The stock distributor with the original advance weights can be used on your vehicle as well as the stock coil. And finally, the spark plug electrodes do not erode as fast as with a conventional point system. (Electrodes erode because the coil produces a decaying spark amplitude voltage instead of an instantaneous spark pulse triggered by a transistor inside the electronic ignition module). The same electronic module was used in all Chrysler corporation cars both 6 and 8 cylinder from 72 to 79 excluding lean burn. It can be mounted in the engine compartment along with a new dual element ballast resistor. The only other thing you will need is the breaker plate inside distributor from a late model mopar which holds the magnetic pickup coil. On the distributor shaft you will have to replace the 8 lobed cam with an 8 pointed magnetic reluctor for he pickup coil. These parts can all be obtained at a local junk yard very cheaply. If anybody is interested on how to electrically interconnect this system, I can provide that information. Sorry for the delayed mailing, this is my third attempt since I'm having problems with my home email client. Which would be best for the Imperial application, i.e., 440, stock cam, dual exhaust, 2.93 axle ratio. I want to be sure I am using a distributor with the proper advance curve, both mechanical and vaccum. Thanks in advance for any replies. Ken Josephson Las Vegas, Nevada '68 Crown Four Door Hardtop
