1960 Stuck engine update

So, are you saying that the guy will tear it down, magnaflux it, do all the machine work, and reassemble it with your supplied parts, all for $500 labor?

That is pretty darn good, providing HE is good at what he does, and will stand behind (in writing) his work.  And get references from him....  Hey, some guys actually are NOT in it for the money, they (like me) enjoy working on machines.  He may just have all the equipment and like to use it.

Good luck, Tim!

He says that would include magnafluxing. Imp like you though. Every time I get a good deal its not so good after all. Where would I get a great motor for 1960 413?

Thanks for the info. I guess my best bet is to stick things back together and have in hauled to a engine rebuilder. I talked to a man here in Bkfd Ca who said he would pull it, do all the machining that was needing and put her back together for me for $500.00 bucks. I would have to supply parts of course. Does that sound reasonable?

Thanks
Tim

Tim,
You can get cylinder sleeves for just about any engine.  Just contact an engine machine shop.

Ok,
The number 6 cylinder has a crack in the piston Sleeve. There was a lot of rust in number 6. A lot of rust. So I guess its going to have to come out. Do they sell piston sleeves anywhere or am I really out of luck?

Thanks
Tim
