From what I've seen, the 4bbls used something like Champion J-12Ys in most cases. I recall seeing some J-10Y listings in the earlier 1960s for the high performance 4bbls. 2bbl 383s used J-14Y and the 400 2bbls went to J-13Ys. These are non-resistor plugs but adding the "R" onto the front is for resistor plugs. If resistor plug wires and coil wires are used, these plugs should work fine as they do in other C-body cars. Basically, the hotter plugs went with the lower performance and lower compression motors, but just depends on the driving characteristics and fuels. Something equivalent to the J-12Y or J-13Y would be my choice.
Not sure what the attraction to Autolites is, but I've seen them mentioned other places too. I've had great luck with the Champions plus Motorcrafts and NGKs V-Power in my Chrysler B-blocks.
